WARDROBE STAPLES

what do i consider the wardrobe staple?

four things:

shirts, jeans, shoes, accessories

this post will talk about jeans.

jeans for the petite, or with a little more to love on the thighs and hips
i recommend a wide-legged jean or trouser pant... why? it skims and hangs loosely over the parts you hate, and since they are a straight-legged pant, they elongate the leg, and make you look longer and leaner. for those of you who are very thin, the wide-legged pant can also create the illusion of curves.

seven for all mankind dojo jean

and what works best on top? since you are wearing a wider jean, preferably, you would like to have something more fitted on top, to create balance. if you're worried about "muffin top", buy a jean with a higher waist. for shoes, pick something with a pointed toe to further elongate the leg.

**great outfit idea:

fitted c&c california tee
true religion tracy jacket

jeans for those with not a whole lot of junk in the trunk, (thin, "model" type)!
wear one of this season's hottest trends, the skinny jean, to compliment your shape. want to make your butt a little bigger? wear something with a flap pocket. it creates the illusion of a larger derriere!

true religion julie stove pipe with joey pockets

for balance, pair the jean with an oversized, tunic-style top. pick an accessory that draws attention away from the parts of the body you hate, to one of your best assets.

WARDROBE STAPLES

what do i consider the wardrobe staple?

four things:

shirts, jeans, shoes, accessories

this post will talk about shirts.

for those with a "flat chest" (like me), i recommend something with a deep v. what's great for you? the kimono-inspired top works great. also, since it hangs looser on the body, it creates curves. feeling uncomfortable with the deep v? pair it with a lace camisole underneath for a little more coverage. what's one of my top picks?

Lux Watercolor Babydoll Top

you can find this top at Urban Outfitters for $58.00.

afraid of a little muffin top? there are some great tops that can hid it. i recommend something longer, that hangs loose on the body. since it isn't tight at the waist, people won't notice the little extra you've got going there.

i recommend a baby-doll inspired dress. not a long dress, a shorter dress, paired with a cute skinny jean, legging or tights.

Lux Jacquard Babydoll Dress

this is also from Urban Outfitters, and retails for $88.00

what about those staples everyone should have?

everyone needs a simple tank, whether it may be a wifebeater or a cute lace camisole. pair it under a hoodie for a lazy day, over a longsleeved tee if you're feeling daring, or under a cute cardigan for a preppy, schoolgirl look.

my top picks?

American Eagle boyfriend tanks (beaters)
Abercrombie and Fitch moose-print tank
Abercrombie and Fitch lace tank

everyone also needs the simple "Oxford" shirt. why? you can pair it under a cute cable-knit sweater for a preppy look, or keep the buttons unbuttoned and add a cute camisole underneath. you can find them with short or long sleeves. here are some of my favourites.

American Eagle Artist shirt
Hollister Ormond Beach shirt
Abercrombie and Fitch Kerry shirt

no matter what your body looks like, or how old or young you are, the classic long-sleeved shirt will always work. why do i consider it a staple? you can pair them with a cute skirt, jeans, shorts, anything. here is my favourite long-sleeved shirt.

American Eagle slub tee
American Eagle scoopneck tee
Hollister San Onfre tee

another one of my favourites? cardigans. many said they would never come back into style, but in my opinion, they've always been in style. pair them with anything underneath, tees, tanks, and to make it look a little fancier, pair a cardigan with a lace camisole and a cute long necklace. here are some of my favourites.

Hollister Shaw's Cove cardigan
Abercrombie and Fitch Ava baby-doll cardigan
Urban Behaviour cardigan

and you can never, ever go wrong with the classic henley. pair it with a cute tank underneath, or by itself, if you prefer.

Urban Behaviour henley
Abercrombie and Fitch Whitney henley
Damsel Vine Printed henley

next post: jeans!

okay, first post, haha.

anywho, i should introduce myself, shouldn't i?

i'm zahra. i'm from canada, and no, i don't live in an igloo and when it's summer, shh, don't tell anyone, but i don't need my parka, kay?

i used to be a really kickass ice skater, but a whole bunch of shit happened over the last few months and i quit. i just don't love the sport the way i used to, because of what happened.

in march, i'm going to go into my third season of field hockey. that is, if i make the school team, which i'm confident that i will.

what else. did i mention i love fashion?

not alot of people know it, but i love it. it's just that i'm extremely self-concious, therefore i don't wear the things that i would if i wasn't so self-critical. it's not that i can't afford it, because i can. at the moment, i'm restricted to stupid abercrombie and tna hoodies and american eagle jeans.

i'm in the beginning processes of losing twenty pounds.

i would really like to model one day. it might help me pay for that $10,000 a year tuition at the University of Toronto.

which, by the way, is where i plan to go in two and a half years time. i used to live there, before moving across the country. toronto just has an amazing vibe to it. it's like canada's version of london. i would consider montreal to be the canadian paris. both just have these chic, urban feels to it.

i happen to live in calgary. redneckville. ugg.

i'll post again about fashion. how to spend if you're on a budget.
